Wellsquire's Wheel of Life Template Instructions

Overview

The Wheel of Life is a visual representation of the balance between different areas of your life. It helps you to quickly understand how satisfied you are in each area and identify where to focus your improvement efforts.

Materials Needed

  • The Wellsquire Wheel of Life Template (Provided as an attachment or link)
  • A pen or pencil, or if digital, a text editing tool
  • A quiet space for reflection

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare:
    • Print out the template or open it in a compatible application if using a digital version.
    • Schedule at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time for this exercise.
  2. Understand the Segments:
    • Review the eight areas of life listed: Career Development, Financial Stability, Health & Fitness, Family & Relationships, Personal Growth, Recreation & Leisure, Mental & Emotional Well-being, Social Contribution & Community.
    • Familiarize yourself with what each area represents and think broadly about how it currently fits into your life.
  3. Rate Your Satisfaction:
    • Reflect on each segment of the Wheel, one by one.
    • On a scale of 1 to 5 (where 1 is completely unsatisfied and 5 is fully satisfied), rate your level of satisfaction with your current status in that area.
    • Mark your satisfaction level on the corresponding spoke of the Wheel. If you're using a pen and paper, draw a line across the spoke at the level that represents your satisfaction. If using a digital tool, type your number into the space provided.
  4. Connect the Dots:
    • Once you have rated all areas, join the marks you've made on each spoke to create a new outer edge for your Wheel.
    • This will visually represent the balance you have in your life. A perfect circle would indicate balance, whereas an uneven shape can show areas of your life that may need more attention.
  5. Analyze Your Wheel:
    • Look at the shape of your Wheel: Is it round and smooth, indicating balance, or is it uneven, indicating areas of life that are disproportionately satisfied or unsatisfied?
    • Consider why some areas have higher or lower scores. What's contributing to that level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction?
  6. Set Goals:
    • Identify the lowest scoring areas of your Wheel as these are the ones that need the most attention.
    • Write down at least one goal for each low-scoring area. Be specific about what you aim to achieve and by when. Make sure your goals are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound.
  7. Create Action Steps:
    • For each goal, establish clear action steps that will move you towards improvement. Determine what you can do daily, weekly, and monthly to make progress.
  8. Review and Adjust:
    • Keep the Wheel of Life in a visible location and review it regularly to remind yourself of your goals and progress.
    • Adjust your goals and action steps as necessary. Life changes, and your Wheel should be a dynamic tool that grows with you.
  9. Seek Support If Needed:
    • If you find certain areas challenging to improve on your own, consider seeking additional resources or support. This might include coaching, mentoring, or joining a Wellsquire program tailored to your needs.

After Completing the Wheel:

Reflect on the process. Was there anything surprising about your ratings? Do you feel motivated to make changes? Remember, the key to using this tool effectively is honesty with yourself and a commitment to personal development.

Closing:

The Wellsquire Wheel of Life is a starting point for your journey toward work-life mastery. Use it to guide your decision-making and to prioritize your actions. May it bring clarity and direction as you seek to achieve harmony across all areas of your life.
